A podcast for all things Sam Raimi

The Raimicast: Hosted by Kristy Jett and Anna Maurya

S1E8 – Bruce Campbell: Hail to the King (Part II)

S1E8 – October 8, 2026

Our final episode of Season One of The Raimicast continues our great big celebration of Bruce Campbell. We talk about some of our favorite film performances, from his star-making turn as Ash Williams throughout the Evil Dead franchise, to his excellent work in movies like Don Coscarelli’s Bubba Ho-Tep and Josh Becker’s Running Time. We also discuss Bruce as a storyteller, covering his published work as a writer and as a voice performer with audio oddities like The Lost Tapes. Things turn a bit emotional towards the end of the episode, as we cover Bruce’s latest work as a writer-director-star, Ernie & Emma, and the life-affirming message of the film in the midst of his cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Come along and bring your tissues as we close out our first season with equal parts laughter and tears!

A note for our video/YouTube subscribers: we apologize as the video for this episode unfortunately did not fully survive the initial upload/editing process. As we’ve said before, we’re not professionals and sometimes when you’re building the airplane mid-flight, you just don’t get windows. But haven’t you seen enough of us anyways?!

To close out this Bruce Campbell love-fest, here’s a collection of some favorite pics:

Bruce and Sam in the early years – remember, Bruce was the one the Detroit Mafia guys thought to put in front of the camera because he was the “best-looking” of the group:

Bruce and Sam behind the scenes of Army of Darkness (1992):

Tim Quill and Bruce in Heart of Dorkness: Behind the Scenes of My Name is Bruce (2009, dr. Michael Kallio)
